Tampons that Heal
The Tampinhas que Curam Association is a non-profit, all-volunteer socio-environmental project that collects plastic caps and can seals, sends them for recycling and, with the proceeds, helps treat children with cancer.
HOW DID THE PROJECT COME ABOUT?
The project was created and conceived in 2021 by Fernanda de Lucca, Lorenzo's mother, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoid Leukemia type B, a blood cancer.
During her son's treatment, she came across many other mothers going through various difficulties. Many families don't have the financial means to buy high-cost medicines, maintain treatment or travel to another city in search of treatment. Some children have to undergo expensive treatments abroad as a last chance of a cure, while others have lost limbs to cancer and cannot afford prostheses. Unfortunately, these are just a few of the thousands of situations in which these families do not receive support. It was from this context that the bottle cap campaign was born, as a complementary way of helping children undergoing cancer treatment.
This project has a much greater purpose than money and protecting the environment. It's a way for us to bring love, acceptance and hope to other children and their families who are facing situations as difficult as the one we're in.
Every donated cap and seal contains a prayer and energy for these children and their families. From bottle cap to bottle cap, we have faith that we can help change these stories, leaving behind memories of welcome and love.
WHY CAPS AND SEALS?
Not everyone can donate money, but EVERYONE produces waste and in a simple and easy way everyone can separate plastic caps and can seals and donate them to save lives and help the environment!
SUSTAINABILITY, ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT
Through the bottle cap campaign, the community and companies can contribute in a simple and practical way, helping to raise funds for the treatment of children with cancer by spreading recycling, protecting and preserving the environment.
The Tampinhas que Curam project is an opportunity for everyone to contribute to a noble and essential cause for society and the environment.
